So third game in Feb against Bishop Stortford. Although they are mid table they have had a run of strong wins recently.

No Lynne or Ania this week - but it’s ok as Hannah is helping out - oh - hang on - no she isn’t as she can’t play with a taped up earring which will not come out! So it’s a bare 7 with Naz feeling unwell and Yvonne not necessarily looking to play a whole game yet!

First quarter we came out strong and finished 7 up. Pep talk at quarter time is ‘we only have 7 so conserve your energy where you can’. Then there is the second quarter which I think we should just ignore! Up by 5 going into the third. Abbie and Yvonne swop to mix things up slightly and the pep talk is ‘seriously - get a grip!’ (I know - I should have been an inspirational speaker). Oh and Hannah and I were told off by the umpire for commenting on a missed contact!!

Third quarter we come out with a blast - because ‘seriously - get a grip’ is all they needed ?. Little wobble for a couple of minutes but we end the quarter 14 up.

All we have to do now is score our centres - no pressure. And of course that’s what we did - winning by 21.

Everyone played a blinder as ever. Defence tipped and intercepted through out the game, centre court ran their legs off and the shooters put the goals away.

For some reason their defence decided to double on Jade - supposedly to stop the long ball in - but this just left Jess free to bring the ball down court and get herself, unmarked, into the circle. No matter how many times she did this, they didn’t seem to clock it and change their strategy.

Jess ran the goal third and the circle, beautifully supported by Jade. She shot brilliantly and never lost her cool - and is my player of the match today.

Personally, I think the win today has secured us the title but wouldn’t want to tempt fate!!!
